Martinu Lukešovou (Barbora Siedlová) a jejího přítele Jana Kadlece (Ondřej Vetchý) potkáváme ve chvíli, kdy se Martina dozvídá, že je těhotná. Rozhodnou se po delší době opět vrátit do Žďáru oznámit novinu rodičům Martiny Lukešovým (Simona Stašová a Miroslav Táborský), ale stane se neočekávaná věc V prvním díle se poprvé potkáváme s novými hrdiny. Místostarostka Petra Janatová (Anna Šišková) musí řešit složitý úkol s obyvateli satelitního městečka. Současně netuší, že její manžel advokát Janata (Jan Hrušínský) má milenku a už vůbec nepředpokládá, že by se s ní mohl rozejít. Dalším novým hrdinou je otec novináře Kadlece (Luděk Munzar). Vedle hlavních postav se můžeme těšit i na další oblíbené tváře – protřelého podnikatele Václava Rokytu (Tomáše Hanáka), jeho ženu (Petru Jungmanová), svérázného policistu Šrédra (Bohumil Klepl) či starostu Tichotu (Jaromír Dulava).
