Seriál Heroes měl premiéru 25. září 2006 na stanici NBC. První díl sledovalo rekordních 14 miliónů diváků. Již po odvysílání prvních pěti dílů se seriálu podařilo dostat na první místo v žebříčku nejoblíbenějších amerických seriálů. Příběh pochází z pera Tima Kringa, který udělal z atraktivního tématu pro Hollywoodský letní blockbuster drama, bez žádných pláštěnek a bez akčních pasáží. Spíše se mluví a sledujeme jak se se svými nově nabytými schopnostmi vyrovnávají hlavní hrdinové.
Děj se točí hlavně okolo několika běžných lidí, kteří na sobě začínají zjišťovat, že mají super schopnosti. Jako v každém správném seriálu jsou zdě hrdinové dobří a zlí. Hlavní zápletkou je hrozící nebezpečí zničení New Yorku atomovým výbuchem, kterému musí Hrdinové zabránit.
