Tento malý chlupatý mimozemšťan s velkým nosem a velmi pestrým jídelníčkem, skládajícím se mimo jiné i z koček, se velmi sblížil s rodinou Tannerových, otcem Williem, matkou Kate a dětmi Lynn a Brien, kteří ho přijali s láskou mezi sebe.Ale ne vždy bylo toto soužití pozemšťanů s mimozemšťanem lehké, ale ALF přesto nikdy neztratil svůj humor.
